100% Beeswax Ornament "FUNGI"

$10.00

This new beeswax ornament shows a grouping of fungi on the forest floor. Magical, mystical mushrooms.

Mushrooms! Mushrooms! Who is foraging for mushrooms?

This ornament, like all my beeswax ornaments, has the unique scent of natural honey. If you collect ornaments or mushroom themed items be sure to grab this new ornament.

Most of my items make a nice HOST GIFT!

The FUNGI ornament varies in weight and size depending on mold and pour. They are approximately 2.5 to 3.0 ounces and 3.5 inches long by 1.75 -2.0 inches wide and 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick.

Beeswax comes in many shades of yellow. From light to dark tan. The ornament shade will vary.

These are meant to be displayed all year long, however, the tradition of beeswax ornaments goes back many centuries.

I love to hang these in my window as the sun can warm the ornament enough to release a soft honey scent. They also are enjoyable hanging from a curtain rod, ceiling light, lamp pull, bedpost, shower rod, etc.

Beeswax ornaments date back to the middle ages (1500's) and were a staple item at the German Christmas markets. German bakers would use their Springele cookie molds to create stunning beeswax ornaments.

All real beeswax develops a white powdery coating, called bloom. It is a harmless substance that can coat your wax at any time, it is said to occur from the changes in the chemical makeup of the beeswax when it is heated and then cooled. It is almost the same as when honey crystallizes. So many nectar substances; glucose and fructose, that the crystallization comes out as bloom on wax.

It is the wax patina! Some prefer to leave this just like you would the patina of a fine antique. Others prefer to wipe the bloom off the wax. This happens alto to pure beeswax candles.

I prefer to use my hairdryer on medium or high setting for about 5 seconds to "freshen" the wax and remove the bloom .The heat from the dryer helps release the honey scent of the wax.
